Facebook Reels launched across the platform to compete with TikTok and Instagram Reels, and they've grown rapidly as a format for quick tutorials, entertainment, and brand content. Like other Facebook content, there's no native download button for Reels. Vid1080 solves this — paste a Reel URL and download it as a clean MP4 with no watermark.
How to Find the Facebook Reel URL
- 1Open Facebook on a desktop browser and navigate to the Reel you want to save
- 2The URL in the address bar will contain /reel/ or /reels/ — copy the full URL
- 3On mobile: tap the three-dot menu on the Reel post and select "Copy link"
- 4Alternatively, tap Share → Copy Link below the Reel
Download a Facebook Reel in 4 Steps
- 1Copy the Facebook Reel URL from the post or browser address bar
- 2Open Vid1080 in your browser and paste the URL into the input field
- 3Click Download — the Reel video details and quality options appear
- 4Select the quality you want (HD for best results) and click the download button
Difference Between Facebook Reels and Regular Videos
- Reels: short-form (up to 90 seconds), vertical format, typically found in the Reels feed or on profile pages
- Regular videos: can be any length, usually horizontal format, found in posts or on Watch
- Both can be downloaded using the same method — paste the URL into Vid1080
- Facebook Live recordings are a separate type — see our Facebook Live download guide for those
Why Facebook Reels Fail to Download
The most common cause of a failed Facebook Reel download is a privacy-restricted post. Reels set to "Friends only" or shared in a private group are not accessible to external tools. If you can view the Reel without being logged in (by opening the URL in an incognito window), it is public and downloadable. If the incognito window shows a login prompt, the content is restricted. Deleted Reels also return errors — download content while it's still live.
